RAQUEL GUALTERO
Raquel Gualtero (La Gualtero) is a Barcelona-based choreographer, performer and dance artist. Her research explores movement as a vital and spiritual impulse, investigating repetition, transformation, perception and the relationship between individual and collective experience.
After graduating from the Amsterdam School of the Arts in 2005, she developed an international career working with companies and artists including Scottish Dance Theatre, Romeo Castellucci, Àlex Rigola, Pere Faura, Lipi Hernández and Agrupación Señor Serrano, among others.
Alongside her work as a performer, she has developed a choreographic practice in which each work emerges from the questions left open by the previous one. Rather than creating isolated pieces, she understands choreography as a long-term process of research, where movement becomes a tool for exploring perception, transformation and collective experience.
This ongoing investigation can be traced through works such as Brut, Nuà, Panorama, 360º, Reactiva 360º and Complete Revolution, projects that examine the body through repetition, rotation and transformation. Through these works, she develops immersive and hypnotic landscapes in which movement gradually alters the perception of time, space and presence.
More recently, this research has expanded towards the relationship between body, image and sound through the development of LOOP, while simultaneously opening new questions around vibration, repetition and collectivity in KORVA and ANTHEM.
Across these different projects, movement appears not as a form to be produced, but as a vital and spiritual impulse capable of transforming both the body that performs it and the community that witnesses it.
