My name is Bob. I was born in 1954 in Strijp. Later, we moved to Gestel, and I grew up there.

And since 1978, I believe, I’ve lived at Kleine Berg. The "flying bicycle"—the design actually dates back to the early 20th century. That was a time when people thought they could get airborne using the speed of a bicycle—actually lift off the ground.

Just by using speed alone. Back then, a prize of 10,000 French francs was even offered to the first person who could fly 10 meters—out and back from the starting line.

I love the look of it. It took quite a bit of work, of course. The starting point is that you already have certain parts—wheels and a frame—but you have to make most of the other components yourself. So, it’s an immense amount of work.

And the fact that it actually works—well, it won't actually take flight, of course, but the technical aspects have to be sound.

Take the propeller, for instance; that part is spot on. Technically, it’s solid. If you put that on a small plane, it would definitely get airborne.
