Anni Kaila is a Helsinki-based dance artist who works often with text and poetry and enjoys interdisciplinary collaborations. In spring 2020 she will graduate with an MA in Dance Performance from the Theatre Academy at the University of the Arts Helsinki (TEAK). Anni has completed her BA in Contemporary Dance at Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK) in 2015. She has worked as a dancer with multiple different groups and artists for example in Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and Finland.
At the moment Anni is especially interested in multifaceted performance work and exploring the potentialities of writing and language in physical, body-based processes. As a performer and as a writer she is fascinated by the poetics of the body and space as well as nuanced and intense atmospheres and experiences.
She also works as a translator (English-Finnish-English) and is intrigued by the idea of translation as a method and tool for choreography and working with texts in a dance context.
