Annabel Koele

Annabel Koele is a performer, physical theatre artist, dancer and creator based in Amsterdam. After graduating from Codarts University in 2017, she performed across Europe before deepening her exploration of physical performance at the Mime Opleiding in Amsterdam. Merging dance and Dutch Mime, she creates work that moves between bodily sculpture and performance, using surreal and absurd imagery to unfold layered, poetic reflections on identity and presence.

With a sense of musicality, timing, and spatial composition, her ongoing research delves into womanhood, the negotiation of space, and the concept of volume. Her physical work challenges perceptions of time, space, and the human body.

Annabel's recent works include CUMULUS (2026), MAGNITUDE (2024), which toured nationally with Via Rudolphi; Even When I’m Dreaming, I Hear Sounds (2025); and Ceci n’est pas une Annabel (2022). In 2026 she got selected as an Aerowaves Artist Twenty26 with her solo creation MAGNITUDE, which she has also performed at United Cowboys.
